Kevin
Biggers
Kevin Biggers was born in 1962 in the city of
Los Angeles. His mother raised him along with
his six brothers and one sister. Kevin attended
catholic school for twelve years and graduated
from Serra High School in Gardena, California.
After graduation, Kevin attended Mount San Antonio
Community College and then transferred to the
University of Nebraska on a full tuition scholarship.
While at Nebraska, Kevin participated in two Orange
Bowls and one Sugar Bowl, but his main feat at
the University was graduating with a degree in
Speech Communications.
After college,
Kevin signed four professional football contracts: two with Canadian Football
League teams and two with National Football League teams from 1985 through 1989.
After being released by the San Diego Chargers in 1989, Kevin knew that professional
football was not his destiny. He then attended real state school and became
a real estate agent in the High Desert. Four years later Kevin became a real
estate broker and started his own company, Biggers and Associates.
Besides being a
businessman, Kevin has always loved politics. At the age of 12, Kevin knocked
on doors for Tom Bradley, LA’s long time Mayor. Bitten by the political
bug, Kevin has worked on campaigns ever since. At the age of 32, Kevin ran for
congress in the 40th congressional district garnering 24% of the vote. Two years
later, in 1996, Kevin ran for the Hesperia City Council and upset the Mayor
by 102 votes. With nearly 5700 votes cast in his favor, Kevin became the first
African American to serve on the city council. Also Kevin, served as a Director
with the Mojave Desert Resource Conservation District for six years, and served
on a national Water Committee with the National Resource Conservation Service
and the United States Department of Agriculture.
In 1998, Kevin
joined the Californians for Gray Davis Campaign, and was the statewide Field
Director and Volunteer Coordinator. After the election, Governor Davis appointed
Kevin as the Director of the Inland Empire Office of the Governor.
Kevin is married
to Katherine Adkins. The couple has two children, Zoe, 5 and
John-John, 3.
